Laura Vondenhuevel is a client services manager for CHAMPS Oncology. In her role, she is responsible for ensuring clients' needs are met relating to data timeliness and completion, Commission on Cancer (CoC) program management, as well as managing the individuals who are responsible for the daily operations in the cancer registry. Additionally, she is responsible for casefinding audits, data quality and database management.

Prior to joining CHAMPS Oncology, Vondenhuevel worked at several medical centers throughout Ohio assisting in the daily operations of the tumor registry and CoC cancer program management. In addition to being part of the CHAMPS Oncology team, Vondenhuevel has previously taught health information management courses at Sinclair Community College located in Dayton, Ohio.

Vondenhuevel earned her Bachelor of Science in Administration/Health Information Systems from the University of Phoenix, as well as an Associate of Applied Science in Health Information Management from Sinclair Community College.

Vondenhuevel is a proud past recipient of many awards and has spoken on a variety of topics related to the cancer registry over the past five years. She is heavily involved in many cancer registry associations and committees and strongly committed to professional volunteering. Vondenhuevel has developed a true passion for the industry and her profession.

She is a member and immediate past president of the Ohio Cancer Registrars Association; a member of the National Cancer Registrars Association; a member and past president of the Miami Valley Cancer Registrars Association; a member and past president of the Miami Valley Health Information Management Association; and a member of the Ohio Health Information Management Association and American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).

Vondenhuevel was also interviewed for an article in the July 2010 issue of the Journal of AHIMA. In the piece, "Sweeping Revisions for Cancer Registries," she discusses the ICD-10-CM/PCS implementation and how it changed the way cancer registrars abstract, report and work with cancer records.
